BIOGRAPHY
Robin Harper practices in the field of insurance and personal injury law, with a particular focus on health related litigation.
The majority of her practice involves defending hospitals in liability actions.
Robin also represents and provides advice to numerous Health Authorities and other health-care providers on general health care issues and appears before administrative tribunals such as:
- The Hospital Appeal Board
- Coroner’s Inquests
- British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal.
Robin has conducted a number of Hospital Appeal Board hearings and inquests for hospitals and has conducted trials and appeals covering the spectrum of insurance litigation, including:
- products liability cases
- medical malpractice
- occupiers’ liability cases
- motor vehicle litigation.
Robin also has a significant practice defending human rights, sexual harassment and sexual abuse claims particularly for schools, hospitals and colleges.
She appears frequently before both the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the British Columbia Court of Appeal.

- Midwives Protection Program
- British Columbia Health Care Risk Management Society
- Vancouver Coastal Health Authority
- Providence Health Care
- Scottish & York Insurance Company
- Cigna Life Insurance Company.
Robin also serves as a court-appointed arbitrator for the resolution of disputes under the “Hepatitis C” class action
Robin frequently lectures to health care groups including the Canadian Hospital Association, British Columbia Reproductive Care Program and Health Conference.
She has also lectured to health care students at British Columbia Institute of Technology and Langara College, and has conducted in-service presentations at numerous hospitals.
Robin has taught family compensation law to Insurance Corporation of British Columbia adjusters and trainees and authored their in-house manual on Fatal Accident Claims.
She is also one of the authors of the Continuing Legal Education book on motor vehicle accident claims and has participated as a presenter in a number of Continuing Legal Education courses.
Robin has been listed as recommended counsel in LEXPERT, an independent publication which rates lawyers based on assessments by leading practitioners in their field of practice.
